Scarpetta Pinot Grigio

 

Scarpetta Pinot Grigio (Friuli) is from the brilliant

palates and hands of Bobby Stuckey M.S. and Canadian chef Lachlan Patterson.

Scarpetta Pinot Grigio actually tastes the way a Pinot Grigio should.

Most Pinot Grigio's are produced in factory's the size of the Pentagon from vines massively over-loaded with characterless grapes. 

Then they're manipulated, fined and refined to the point that the juice has no flavour and no sense of place. This is not Pinot Grigio.

Finely grown, tended Pinot Grigio should have a note of colour and if given a short prefermentative maceration, the resulting wine

will have more character, more taste and a bit of colour; hence the name Pinot Gris/Grigio/Grey.

Sandrone Valmaggiore Nebbiolo
Rose scented with a whiff of menthol and lavender fields,
raspberry and red currant, developing to an almost pinot noir like sweet
perfume, lots of iron in the background, black earth with just a hint
of liquorice. Intense palate entry, wonderful attack of concentrated
raspberry, accelerated by exlierating acidity, incredibly fine and
integrated palate for Nebbiolo, super fine powdery tannins - amazing
length wonderfully elegant wine but not losing any of the intensity
of the variety. One of the most impressive d’Alba designated wines I
have had, purchase several cases, if you can find it!
